Community Leadership Council
The Community Leadership Council (CLC) was developed to enhance leadership skills and increase diverse volunteer participation in local nonprofit agencies. The program aims to identify, recruit, and place diverse leaders into nonprofit board and leadership positions throughout Coastal Georgia.
United Way’s CLC is a nine-session training program offered in consecutive weeks each spring. Each session is approximately two hours and is held in the mornings of the specified day. Programming includes board member responsibilities, fundraising, strategic planning, as well as financial and legal decision making. Following the nine week program, participants serve a one year internship on the board of a local nonprofit of their choice. As part of the internship, the participant is a full, non-voting member of the board and serves on at least one committee.
Applications are accepted from February 1 to February 28 each year. A selection committee will review applications and select no more than 15 participants per class.
After selection, participants will sign a Letter of Agreement outlining the requirements for successful completion of the CLC program and submit a non-refundable commitment fee of $200. The fee can be paid by the individual or their employer.
