About Us

History

Since 1956, United Way of Coastal Georgia (UWCGA) has been in the business of creating meaningful and tangible impact in Glynn and McIntosh Counties. In 2021, UWCGA expanded its service area to include Camden County and in 2022 we expanded once again to include Brantley, Charlton, Pierce, and Wayne Counties. We are a volunteer driven organization with more than 400 volunteers who donate their time and talent to serve in the community and help to make a difference by embracing our core values:

  • Philanthropy that links funding to results
  • Stewardship built with and sustained by trust
  • Leadership guided by integrity and inclusiveness

As the leading facilitator of community impact for Coastal Georgia, United Way of Coastal Georgia (UWCGA) envisions building a stronger community by mobilizing our citizens to improve the lives of others. Our Community Investment process provides grant funding to health and human service programs in the community as well as direct programming. Through unique approaches and partnerships with dozens of community agencies, UWCGA seeks to mobilize resources beyond dollars to invest in the building blocks of a good life: a quality education that leads to a stable job, enough income to support a family through retirement, and good health.

Advancing the common good is less about helping one person at a time and more about changing systems to help all of us. We are all connected and interdependent. We all win when a child succeeds in school, when families are financially stable, and when people are healthy.

United Way’s goal is to create long-lasting changes by addressing the underlying causes of these problems. Living United means being a part of the change. It takes everyone in the community working together to create a brighter future.

Mission

United Way of Coastal Georgia improves lives in our community by promoting giving, advocating, and volunteering in the areas of education, health, and income stability – the building blocks of a good quality of life.

Vision

United Way of Coastal Georgia strives to create a community where all individuals and families have the opportunity to achieve their maximum potential through economic self-sufficiency.

Values

Beyond the core values stated above, UWCGA has eight values by which we live and work with each other and all of our partners. We are…

  • Passionate about our mission, goals, and our community
  • Stewards over all funds entrusted to us through our due diligence process
  • Respectful of each other and all members of our community
  • Compassionate about those in need
  • Proactive, providing insights and anticipating needs
  • Outcomes Driven for maximum community impact on important issues
  • Community Focused, “Living United” to improve the lives of those in Coastal Georgia.
  • Collaborative as we listen and try to understand what is concerning all community partners on issues related to Education, Health, and Income Stability
