Blueprint Project
Goal: Increase Glynn County’s high school graduation rate to 85% by the year 2020.
Our current keystone project, the High School Graduation Blueprint, is the most ambitious project ever dedicated to increasing student success and on-time graduation in our community. While 69% of Glynn County’s overall student body currently graduates from high school on time, only 58% of economically disadvantaged students do so.
HS Graduation Blueprint uses various techniques and approaches that have been shown to be what young adults need to succeed in the classroom and beyond:
- Working closely with the Glynn County School System to target the most at risk students
- Using a systematic data-driven method to identify 6th grade students at risk of dropping out
- Provide students with wrap-around school and home-based tutoring, mentoring, and family support services
Although United Way of Coastal Georgia is serving as the “backbone” of the project, this initiative would not be possible without the help of our partners The Boys and Girls Club of Southeast Georgia which provides tutoring and mentoring services and Safe Harbor Children’s Shelter which provides in-home family support services.
