For more than 60 years, our local United Way has made a strong impact in the lives of children, families and individuals in Glynn, McIntosh and Camden counties. The United Way of Coastal Georgia's Board of Directors is exploring a merger with another United Way as an opportunity to strengthen local impact and effectively address the needs of each community. A merger can also give more attention to solving problems that many communities in our region have in common.
One of the goals of a merged organization will be to leverage relationships and the knowledge of the broader community to realign resources in a way that individual United Ways are not typically able to do on their own. Issues like homelessness don’t stop at the county line. Financially, there’s a greater capacity for economies of scale, savings, and reduction in back-office costs, allowing more funds to be deployed for mission-related work.
We'll refresh the top of this page as news of the merger develops. (updated 10/10/24)
