Diane Martin honored as 2011 Volunteer of the Year for McIntosh County

Catina Tindall & Missy Neu congratulate Diane Martin on receiving the 2011 Volunteer of the Year Award for McIntosh County in recognition and sincere appreciation of her outstanding volunteer service. The award was presented last evening at the Annual Darien-McIntosh Chamber of Commerce Dinner.

Diane Martin was presented with the United Way of Coastal Georgia’s 2011 Volunteer of the Year for McIntosh County at the Darien-McIntosh County annual dinner held at The Buccaneer Club on the Sapelo River in Bellville. The award, given in recognition of and sincere appreciation for outstanding volunteer service, was presented by Catina Tindall, United Way Board of Directors Chair.

Wally T. Orrel, President of the Darien-McIntosh Chamber of Commerce noted, “When volunteering is a passion, we all benefit. And we have all benefited from Diane‘s tireless work on behalf on our community. She is never just a member of an organization; she becomes the heart and soul of it. Whether it is in business, community or her church, Diane gives 200% and always does it with warmth and a smile. She is a real leader and a person that individuals want to follow.”

Mrs. Martin has selflessly given her time and talents to many local non-profits including McIntosh County Rotary Club, Blessing of the Fleet Steering Committee, United Methodist Church, Ferst Foundation, and United Way.

Volunteers of all charitable organizations are eligible and do not have to be a volunteer of United Way or a United Way Funded Agency. Nominees must have been actively engaged in volunteering for non-profits organizations in Glynn and/or McIntosh Counties over the last 18 months.

The heart of a volunteer is not measured in size,

but by the depth of the commitment

to make a difference in the lives of others.
